Job Description

If you are an experienced Environmental / RMA Planner who loves getting out and tackling some great challenges, I believe this is the company to consider in 2025.

Genuinely friendly, flexible and with over 15 years of solid growth, this is more than just a good place to work.

Right now, they have on offer an number of positions, including:

Senior Environmental Planner:

  • leading role as trusted expert in civil / development resource consents
  • a career path with support at director level
  • an indoor/outdoor work environment
  • real flexibility in your work and time

Role:
This role is all about leading the consent process for civil/commercial projects in behalf of clients throughout New Zealand. You will be getting out on site, engaging, building trust with all parties (contractors, consultants, councils), handling the technicalities, legal and operational challenges from both sides, for a better solution. It's hugely engaging work - I hear it in the people I talk to - they love it here!

At work, you will find yourself one day out on a river, the next day developing an insightful and effective consenting strategy. Civil construction consents, statutory planning, iwi consultation and hearing process management, will all be in your work mix.

Projects:
These projects are at the core of New Zealand; helping our country make the best use of natural resources being part of building a good future.
Projects will include:

  • Civil construction / land development
  • Disaster recovery
  • Natural materials, aggregates, roading and landfill
  • Energy and innovation

Requirements:
Character is key. You will have a real eye for the legal, technical and operational nitty gritty and possess the talent for looking at problems from all directions.  You will naturally take charge of the technical aspects, yet willingly delegate and especially enjoy developing quality relationships with other professionals.  At the end of the day, you will savour the opportunity to solve the problems, then stand up when required and strive for the best solution.

Qualifications:
We are open to credentials from a wide range, Planning, River / Civil Engineering, Natural Resources and Sciences.

Typically we would expect:

  • a degree in Environmental/Civil/Natural Resources/Geography/Geology typically recognised by the NZ Planning Institute (NZPI)
  • minimum of 5 years experience of consent processing and management
  • a desire to expand your technical and maybe your people leadership skills at a senior level
  • a passion for infrastructure and natural resources.

Why this role?
The company is a pleasure to work with, the sector is strong and growing and this role definitely offers excitement and opportunity.
